Summary
This study tested whether using ultrasound helps nurses place IVs and draw blood from arteries more easily in emergency patients with hard-to-find veins. About 200 adults and children with difficult vein access took part. Researchers compared ultrasound guidance to the usual method of feeling or looking for veins, measuring how many attempts and professionals were needed, time taken, and pain felt.
