New scan could make surgery safer by spotting Hard-to-Intubate patients

NCT ID NCT06928402

Summary

This study tested if using an ultrasound machine to scan a patient's neck before surgery is better than standard physical exams at predicting who will be difficult to place a breathing tube in. Researchers compared the ultrasound measurements to several common physical tests in 420 adults having elective surgery. The goal was to find a more reliable, non-invasive way to identify these patients ahead of time to improve safety.
