New ultrasound scan could make surgery safer by spotting breathing risks before anesthesia

NCT ID NCT07309978

Summary

This study aims to see if using an ultrasound machine to scan a patient's neck and throat is better than the standard physical measurements doctors currently use for predicting who might be difficult to place a breathing tube in. Researchers will enroll 200 adults having planned surgery to compare the two methods. The goal is to find a more accurate way to identify these risks before anesthesia begins, potentially making procedures safer.
