Can ultrasound make epidurals safer for moms in labor?

NCT ID NCT02271100

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 11, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study looked at whether using ultrasound to guide epidural needle placement works better than the traditional method of feeling for landmarks (palpation) in women in labor. About 110 healthy pregnant women took part. The goal was to see if ultrasound helps place the needle more accurately and lowers the risk of complications.
