Ultrasound may improve First-Try success for difficult epidural placements

NCT ID NCT07269184

Summary

This study compares two methods for placing epidural catheters (thin tubes for pain relief) during surgery in patients whose spinal bones are difficult to feel by touch. Researchers will test whether using an ultrasound machine to guide the needle is better than using only touch and anatomical landmarks. They will measure which method leads to more successful placements on the first try, takes less time, and causes fewer complications.
