Quick scan could replace tube test for safer procedures

NCT ID NCT07292935

Summary

This study aims to see if a simple, non-invasive ultrasound scan can accurately check what's in a patient's stomach, compared to the current standard method which involves inserting a tube (gastroscopy). Researchers will perform both tests on about 1,390 adults scheduled for a gastroscopy. The goal is to find a safer, easier way to assess the risk of stomach contents entering the lungs during medical procedures.
