First seen Apr 14, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study tests a simple ultrasound method to quickly confirm that a breathing tube is placed in the windpipe (trachea) and not the food pipe (esophagus) during surgery. About 200 adults having planned or emergency surgery will take part. The goal is to see if this ultrasound approach is as reliable as the current standard method (capnography) and easy for staff to learn.
