New ultrasound study aims to reduce risks during common vein procedure

NCT ID NCT07556770

First seen Apr 30, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study uses ultrasound to compare two ways of looking at a large vein under the collarbone (the subclavian vein) to see which is safer for inserting catheters. Researchers will scan 55 adults during anesthesia, measuring how far the vein is from the lung and artery. The goal is to provide clear anatomical data to help doctors avoid accidental injury during this common procedure.
