First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

This study tests a new ultrasound method to measure the digastric muscles, which help with swallowing. It includes 35 healthy volunteers and 35 patients with swallowing problems. The goal is to see if the new approach gives clearer images than the standard method.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could lead to a more reliable ultrasound technique for diagnosing swallowing disorders.

What could go wrong

This is an early-stage feasibility study with only 70 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The new method might not prove better than the current approach.
