Simple scan could prevent dangerous baby intubations

NCT ID NCT07444528

Summary

This study is testing whether a quick, safe ultrasound of a baby's neck can predict if placing a breathing tube will be difficult during surgery. Researchers will scan 180 babies under 1 year old before their procedures to see if certain ultrasound measurements match up with how hard it is for doctors to see and access the airway. The goal is to create a better warning system so anesthesia teams can be better prepared for tricky cases, potentially reducing multiple attempts and complications.
