Could a quick scan make epidurals safer for moms in labor?

NCT ID NCT07056166

Summary

This study aims to find out if a simple ultrasound scan of a pregnant woman's lower back can help doctors predict if placing an epidural for pain relief during labor will be difficult. Researchers will scan over 500 women before their epidural and compare the ultrasound images to how easily the procedure went. The goal is to identify warning signs ahead of time to improve patient safety and help doctors prepare.
