Neck scan could make surgery safer by spotting airway trouble before it happens

NCT ID NCT07383610

Summary

This study tested if a quick ultrasound scan of a patient's neck before surgery could help doctors predict who might have a difficult time placing a breathing tube. Researchers measured throat structures in 400 adults having planned surgery. They then checked if those measurements were linked to actual problems with tube placement or mask ventilation during the procedure.
