New tool tested to make vein catheter insertion safer and quicker
NCT ID NCT05513378
Summary
This study tested if adding a special needle guide to an ultrasound machine helps doctors place a central line catheter more easily. It involved 300 adults who needed this type of catheter placed in a chest vein. Researchers compared the standard ultrasound method to the method with the added guide to see which caused fewer needle sticks and complications.
