No-Syringe neck catheter method may be faster and safer
NCT ID NCT07547397
First seen Apr 29, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study compares two ultrasound-guided techniques for inserting a central venous catheter into the jugular vein in the neck. The classic method uses a syringe to confirm the needle is in the vein, while the syringe-free method skips that step by placing the guide wire directly through the needle. Researchers will measure which technique is faster, requires fewer needle sticks, and causes fewer complications. The study will include 90 adults aged 18–85 who need a central line during surgery.
