Doctors use ultrasound to see if critically ill patients can eat

NCT ID NCT05379582

Summary

This study tested whether using an ultrasound scan of the stomach and intestines could help guide feeding decisions for patients in intensive care. Researchers wanted to see if this approach helped patients get the nutrition they needed through a feeding tube and improved their recovery. Nearly 300 critically ill adults participated, with half receiving ultrasound-guided feeding and half following standard care.
