Doctors use ultrasound to watch how ICU patients digest liquid food
NCT ID NCT07352202
Summary
This study aims to learn how the stomachs of sedated, critically ill patients process different types of liquid nutrition. Researchers will use a bedside ultrasound machine to take pictures of patients' stomachs before and after they receive their feeding. The goal is to see if some liquid foods empty from the stomach faster or slower than others, which could help guide future feeding practices.
