Ultrasound zaps kidney fat to fight stubborn high blood pressure

NCT ID NCT07232966

Not yet recruiting Disease control Sponsor: Yan Li Source: ClinicalTrials.gov ↗

Summary

This study is testing a new ultrasound treatment for people with resistant hypertension, where blood pressure stays high despite taking three or more medications. The treatment uses focused sound waves to target and modify fat tissue around the kidneys, which may help lower blood pressure. Researchers will compare the real treatment to a sham (fake) procedure in 220 participants to see if it safely reduces blood pressure over six months.
