Doctors use ultrasound to spot hidden danger in injured kids before surgery

NCT ID NCT05330351

Summary

This study aims to see if using an ultrasound scan on a child's stomach before urgent trauma surgery can accurately identify those with a lot of fluid or food still present. Researchers want to understand which injured children are at higher risk for stomach contents accidentally entering their lungs during anesthesia. The goal is to gather information to help doctors make safer decisions about how to put these children to sleep for their operations.
