Hidden danger? ultrasound reveals full stomachs in ozempic patients before surgery

NCT ID NCT06292065

Summary

This study looked at whether popular weight-loss and diabetes drugs like Ozempic (semaglutide) cause food to stay in the stomach longer, even when patients follow fasting rules before surgery. Researchers used a bedside ultrasound to check the stomachs of 88 patients taking the drug and compared them to patients not taking it. The goal was to see if this scan helps anesthesiologists make safer plans to prevent complications during surgery.
