Scientists put older ultramarathon runners under the microscope
NCT ID NCT07451717
Summary
This study aimed to understand how extreme physical exertion, like running a 100-kilometer race, affects the health of middle-aged and older amateur athletes. Researchers measured changes in the heart, muscles, metabolism, and other body systems in 52 runners aged 45 and over. The goal was to gather detailed knowledge about the body's response to this extreme challenge, not to provide a treatment.
