Summary
This study aimed to learn what happens to the bodies of athletes who run extremely long-distance mountain races. Researchers followed 37 healthy adults running a 106km race, measuring their blood, muscle strength, and fitness before, during, and after the event. The goal was to understand how training, race conditions, and gender affect performance and recovery in these extreme endurance challenges.
