Cheaper MRI scanners could spot early brain disease

NCT ID NCT06947876

First seen May 08, 2026 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study is testing whether new, low-cost MRI machines can detect brain changes caused by small vessel disease, a condition that can lead to stroke and dementia. Researchers will compare these new scanners to standard high-field MRI in 85 adults aged 50 and older. The goal is to make brain imaging more affordable and accessible for more people.
