Cord stem cells aim to tame rare muscle disease
NCT ID NCT07160205
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 33 times
Summary
This study tests whether stem cells from umbilical cord lining can safely improve symptoms of dermatomyositis and polymyositis, rare diseases that cause muscle weakness and inflammation. Forty adults will receive three IV doses of the stem cells or a placebo, then switch groups. Researchers will check if the treatment reduces disease severity and allows patients to lower their steroid medications.
