Timing matters: when doctors check symptoms affects colitis treatment success

NCT ID NCT06998693

Summary

This study looked at 180 adults with mild-to-moderate ulcerative colitis who were starting standard 5-ASA medication. Researchers wanted to see if the timing of the first symptom check (at 4, 8, or 12 weeks) affected how well the treatment worked in the short term. By tracking symptom scores and other markers, the study aimed to understand the pattern of symptom relief and help doctors make more personalized treatment decisions.
