First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated Jun 23, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study is looking at 1,000 adults with type 2 diabetes to see if a special MRI scan can predict future heart and kidney problems. What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to better ways to predict heart and kidney complications in people with type 2 diabetes, helping doctors intervene earlier.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It may not find clear links between MRI results and future health events, and results may not apply to everyone with diabetes.
Conditions
