Can a common bile acid pill help hepatitis patients recover faster?
NCT ID NCT07525401
First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tests whether a pill called ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) can lower bilirubin levels in people with acute viral hepatitis (types A or E). About 88 adults will either get UDCA plus standard care or standard care alone. The main goal is to see if UDCA speeds up the drop in bilirubin after 7 days, which could mean a shorter illness and hospital stay.
