Stem cells may help people with rare balance disorder

Summary

This study tests whether stem cells from umbilical cords can safely help people with spinocerebellar ataxia, a rare disease that affects balance and coordination. About 45 adults with mild to moderate symptoms will receive the treatment and be followed for 12 months. The main goal is to see if their movement scores improve by at least 1 point.
