NCT ID NCT07434453
First seen Feb 27, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study tested whether applying tranexamic acid (a common, low-cost medicine) directly into the surgical wound, along with a special stitching technique called flap fixation, could reduce fluid buildup and infection after breast cancer surgery. 62 women who had a mastectomy with lymph node removal were split into two groups: one got the medicine plus flap fixation, the other got flap fixation alone. The group receiving the medicine had significantly less fluid collection and fewer wound infections, suggesting this simple approach could improve recovery.
