Study aims to Fine-Tune drug dose to reduce blood loss in joint surgery

NCT ID NCT05075200

Summary

This study aimed to find the best dose of a drug called tranexamic acid (TXA) for patients getting hip or knee replacements. TXA helps control bleeding during surgery, which can reduce the need for blood transfusions. Researchers tested how the drug was processed in the bodies of 21 patients, paying special attention to those with reduced kidney function, to help create better dosing guidelines.
