New study tests quick scoring tool to prevent unnecessary surgery for testicular pain
NCT ID NCT07499024
First seen Apr 06, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study is testing whether a simple scoring tool called TWIST can help doctors safely rule out testicular torsion in adult men (ages 18-40) who come to the emergency room with scrotal pain. The tool was originally designed for children, and researchers want to see if it works as well in adults. If successful, it could reduce the need for unnecessary imaging and surgery. The study will enroll 1,000 participants across multiple hospitals in Sweden.
