Game-Changing Twice-Yearly shot could revolutionize HIV prevention for young women
NCT ID NCT04994509
Summary
This large Phase 3 study tested whether a new long-acting injection given just twice a year is as effective as daily oral pills at preventing HIV infection. It enrolled over 5,300 adolescent girls and young women in sub-Saharan Africa who were at risk of acquiring HIV. The goal was to compare the safety and prevention power of the injection (lenacapavir) against standard daily pill regimens.
