What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
laser ablation (TPLA) vs standard surgery (TURP)
What this could lead to
If TPLA works as well as TURP, it could offer a less invasive option for men with urinary symptoms from an enlarged prostate, possibly with a shorter hospital stay.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 80 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The laser procedure might not be as effective as standard surgery, and there could be unknown risks.
