Lying flat or upright? new study tests best position for ARDS lungs
NCT ID NCT07504731
First seen Apr 02, 2026 · Last updated May 04, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study looks at how tilting the body (trunk inclination) changes lung mechanics in 40 adults with moderate to severe ARDS who are on breathing machines. Researchers measure lung pressures and use imaging to see how different positions and ventilator settings affect lung overstretch or collapse. The goal is to gather knowledge to improve ventilator care, not to test a new treatment.
