First seen May 14, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests whether a type of exercise called proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) can improve trunk control in adults who develop muscle weakness in the ICU. Fifty-eight patients will be randomly assigned to receive either PNF exercises or standard physical therapy. The goal is to see if PNF helps them sit up and balance better at the bedside, which is an important step toward recovery.
