New surgical technique aims to fix painful anal condition without causing incontinence

NCT ID NCT07334678

Summary

This study compares two surgical methods for treating high anal fistulas, which are painful tunnels that form near the anus. Researchers are testing whether a newer technique called TROPIS works better than the traditional coring out method at healing these fistulas while preserving bowel control. The trial involves 76 patients with high fistulas to see which approach leads to better healing, fewer complications, and less risk of incontinence.
