New pill aims to halt blinding eye disease in major trial

Summary
This study is testing whether a daily oral medication called Tinlarebant can slow the progression of geographic atrophy (GA), an advanced form of age-related macular degeneration that causes permanent vision loss. About 429 participants with GA will be randomly assigned to take either the study drug or a placebo pill daily for two years. The main goal is to see if the drug reduces the rate at which the damaging eye lesions grow, which could help preserve vision.
