First seen Apr 11, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study tested whether placing elderly patients in a slight head-down tilt (Trendelenburg position) during the start of anesthesia can prevent low blood pressure. 168 patients aged 65-90 having abdominal surgery were randomly assigned to either the tilt or flat position. The researchers measured how much and how long blood pressure stayed below safe levels in the first 15 minutes.
