Scientists test runners on hills to uncover hidden body responses
NCT ID NCT03946215
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study looked at how well-trained runners' hearts and lungs respond to running on a treadmill at different slopes—downhill, flat, and uphill. Eight athletes participated to see if downhill running uses less oxygen than flat or uphill running. The goal was to better understand how slope changes affect performance and muscle fatigue.
