Can a simple score predict survival for trauma patients in conflict zones?
NCT ID NCT06711536
Summary
This study tested how well a standard trauma scoring system works in Iraq to predict patient outcomes after serious injuries. Researchers followed 204 adult trauma patients admitted to a hospital emergency department, calculating their injury severity score upon arrival and tracking their survival, need for surgery or intensive care, and length of hospital stay. The goal was to see if this scoring tool, commonly used elsewhere, could help doctors in Iraq quickly identify the most critically injured patients and improve trauma care.
