First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This early-stage study tests whether tranilast, a drug used for allergies, can reduce prostate size in 30 men aged 55-75 with moderate to severe urinary symptoms. The drug targets mast cells, which may drive prostate growth. Researchers will measure changes in prostate volume, symptom scores, and quality of life over the study period.
