Allergy drug trial offers new hope for shrinking enlarged prostate

NCT ID NCT06689514

Summary

This early-stage study is testing whether a drug called tranilast, currently used for allergies and scars, can safely reduce prostate size in men with moderate-to-large benign prostate enlargement. Researchers will enroll 30 men aged 55-75 to receive either a low or high dose of the drug. The goal is to see if this approach can shrink the prostate and improve urinary symptoms without the sexual side effects common with current medications.
