Drug trial aims to stop deadly pregnancy bleeding
NCT ID NCT05840471
Summary
This study tested whether a medication called tranexamic acid could help control severe bleeding caused by placental abruption, a dangerous condition where the placenta separates from the womb too early. It involved 116 pregnant women at 24 weeks or more who were experiencing this bleeding but were otherwise stable. Researchers compared the drug to a placebo to see if it better stopped the bleeding and led to healthier outcomes for both mother and baby.
