Simple breath test could help patients get rid of breathing tubes sooner
NCT ID NCT07317791
Summary
This study aims to confirm if a simple breathing test can safely determine when a tracheostomy tube can be permanently removed. Researchers will test 500 adults who have had a breathing tube for at least two weeks. The goal is to validate a specific airflow measurement as a reliable signal that a patient is ready to breathe on their own without the tube.
