New breathing tube removal method tested for coma patients

NCT ID NCT07173634

Summary

This study compares two methods to safely remove breathing tubes (tracheostomy tubes) in adults with prolonged disorders of consciousness. Researchers want to see if using a special speaking valve during the removal process works better than the standard capping method. The goal is to find which approach leads to more successful tube removal, shorter hospital stays, and better outcomes for these patients.
