New protocol aims to free Brain-Injured patients from breathing tubes

NCT ID NCT07183670

Summary

This study is testing a new, step-by-step method to safely remove breathing tubes (tracheostomies) from patients who have been unconscious for a long time after a severe brain injury. The goal is to see if this standardized protocol helps more patients get their tubes out successfully and improves their comfort and recovery. Researchers will follow 300 patients across multiple hospitals to see how well the method works and if it affects their level of consciousness.
