Toy nebulizers or distraction cards: which eases Kids' fear best?
NCT ID NCT07417839
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests two simple ways to reduce fear in children aged 3-6 who need breathing treatments (nebulization) for conditions like asthma. One group uses a toy-shaped nebulizer, another uses colorful distraction cards with games, and a third group gets standard care. Researchers will measure children's fear levels and how satisfied parents are with the experience. The goal is to find a low-cost, non-medical way to make these treatments less scary for young kids.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a simple, non-drug way to reduce children's fear during breathing treatments and increase parent satisfaction.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study (120 children) comparing two behavioral methods. Results may not apply to all children or settings, and neither approach is a medical treatment.
