First seen Feb 12, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study looks at whether letting young boys (ages 3 to 7) ride a toy car to the operating room can reduce their anxiety before surgery and confusion after waking up. About 96 children having their tonsils or adenoids removed will be randomly assigned to either ride a toy car or be taken on a stretcher. Researchers will measure anxiety levels before surgery and check for delirium during recovery.
