New ultrasound biopsy could spare lung patients risky surgery
NCT ID NCT07305220
First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study tests whether a less invasive, ultrasound-guided lung biopsy can safely diagnose interstitial lung disease (ILD) compared to standard surgical biopsy. Fifteen adults with ILD will receive both procedures to compare safety and sample quality. If successful, this approach could offer a safer, outpatient alternative for patients who cannot undergo surgery.
