Cream trial aims to smooth facial bumps in rare genetic disorder

NCT ID NCT03363763

Summary

This study tested whether a cream containing the drug sirolimus could safely reduce the facial bumps (angiofibromas) common in children with tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC). About 45 children and young adults applied one of two strengths of the cream or a placebo cream to their face nightly for 12 weeks. The main goal was to see if the treatment improved the appearance and severity of these skin growths.
