First seen Apr 15, 2026 · Last updated May 04, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study tests whether a metformin cream or a tranexamic acid cream works better for treating melasma, a skin condition causing dark patches on the face. About 70 adults with melasma will apply one of the creams daily for 12 weeks. Doctors will measure changes in the size and darkness of the patches to see which treatment is more effective and safe.
